چکیده

Abstract The presence of toxic algae, such as Microcystis aeruginosa (MA), in drinking water treatment plants (DWTPs) would contribute to algal organic matter (AOM) precursors toward disinfection by-products (DBPs). Electrocoagulation–flotation (ECF) has shown promising performance minimizing cells from and dissolved AOM. This study aimed investigate the effect current density (CD) pH on alumina (Al)-based ECF for removing MA cell DBPs cyanobacteria-laden water. Al-based was evaluated at various CD conditions within 20 min. In addition, total halogenated formation treated suspension after quantified. At 8, process with 5 mA/cm2 exhibits most significant reductions soluble AOM, accounting 97 56%, respectively. Additionally, trihalomethanes (THMs) haloketones (HKs) can be effectively removed flotation despite their release EC. tremendous reduction humic acid-like (HAL) substances extracellular (EOM) fraction by leads minimized THMs potential. summary, 8 is effective remove cyanobacteria minimize regulated along an insignificant haloacetic acids (HAAs) precursors.

Removing of Disinfection By-Product Precursors from Surface Water by Using Magnetic Graphene Oxide

The magnetic graphene oxide (MGO) was successfully synthesised by the in situ chemical co-precipitation method with Fe3+, Fe2+ and graphene oxide (GO) in laboratory and, was used as an adsorbent for disinfection by-product (DBP) precursors removing from four natural surface water samples. The results indicate that various DBPs formation significantly decreased by 7-19% to 78-98% for the four sa...

Disinfection by-product formation of UV treated swimming pool water

Water samples from 3 indoor swimming pool facilities were tested to evaluate UV-induced effects on swimming pool water chemistry. Concentration change of several DBPs was investigated in experiments including medium pressure UV treatment with and without chlorine and post-UV chlorination. Post-UV chlorine consumption increased, dose-dependently, with UV treatment dose. A clear absence of trihal...

Removal of disinfection by-product precursors by coagulation and an innovative suspended ion exchange process.

This investigation aimed to compare the disinfection by-product formation potentials (DBPFPs) of three UK surface waters (1 upland reservoir and 2 lowland rivers) with differing characteristics treated by (a) a full scale conventional process and (b) pilot scale processes using a novel suspended ion exchange (SIX) process and inline coagulation (ILCA) followed by ceramic membrane filtration (CM...

Drinking water disinfection by-product exposure and fetal growth.

BACKGROUND Previous studies suggest that elevated exposure to drinking water disinfection by-products (DBPs)--in particular, total trihalomethanes (TTHMs)--may lead to fetal growth restriction. We examined the effects of exposure to TTHMs, haloacetic acids, and total organic halide on the probability of delivering a small-for-gestational-age (SGA) infant and on birth weight at term. METHODS W...
